Food additives are divided into 17 categories, including L-monosodium glutamate (MSG), cochineal red A, sodium nitrite, artificial sweeteners, sulfites and antioxidants.

Food additives definition: Anything added to food for the purpose of coloring, flavoring, preserving, adding flavor, stabilizing quality, or promoting fermentation. They are regulated in terms of scope of use and standard concentration, with approval required by the competent central authority.
